Lane Cove River Caravan Park Tourist Park & Camping Sydney
A complete guide to Lane Cove River Caravan Park Tourist Park and Camping, located only 10 kilometres from the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House. It's a large tourist park (as opposed to simply a caravan park, an important difference) with plenty of caravan sites, campervan sites, motorhome sites, tent and camping sites. Family cabins and ensuite cabins as accommodation options. The caravan park is located totally within Lane Cove National Park with the Lane Cove River or public transport only a 10 minute walk away. It is also known as Lane Cove Caravan Park or Lane Cove River Caravan Park. Having worked at Lane Cove River Tourist Park, Caravan Park and Campground for more than 6 years full time I am very well qualified and more than happy to provide information about the tourist park, access to tourist attactions, things to do and places to see.
The green menu at the top of this page and within these pages relate to Lane Cove River Tourist Park but on any page you can navigate to the main Caravan and Camping Sydney website from the left hand menu item. So if you are here to find out about Lane Cove River Tourist Caravan Park the green menu pages are the pages for you.
The Lane Cove River Tourist Park Caravan Park and Campground
is very well equipped with the basic facilities and is very good value at $39.00 per night for a powered site (two people, extra adults $10.00 per night, children 12 or younger free). These fees apply to camping, tent, motorhome and camper van sites as well. Unpowered sites are $2.00 less at $37.00 but the other conditions are the same). Being on the Northern side of Sydney Harbour the area is peaceful and quiet with an abundance of trees and greenery. And for travellers on a budget with a campervan or car it's cheaper than most backpacker hostels. Full details about prices are here.
Lane Cove Caravan Park is designed for tourists and visitors to Sydney
Lane Cove Caravan Park and Tourist Park is specifically designed for tourists and visitors to Sydney. It is not a residential caravan park and any stay is usually limited to 4 weeks at a time to ensure there will be room for other tourists and interstate or intrastate visitors. Exceptions can be made for special cicumstances but you will need to apply with the manager of the caravan park for an exemption to the 4 week rule. A good quality option for short term accommodation in the North West Suburbs of Sydney, or to be near Sydney city.
Sydney Olympic Park at Homebush
is also close to Lane Cove River Tourist Park. It only takes a 20 minute drive to get there with plenty of parking options but public transport options are limited unfortunately. Follow this link for details about what's on at Sydney Olympic Park.
Access to Lane Cove River Caravan Park Tourist Park and Campground is via Plassey Road, Macquarie Park, Sydney.
An important distinction as some people try to find it in the suburb of Lane Cove. But it's named after the National Park not the suburb it is actually in. To add to the confusion the suburb has previously been known as North Ryde and the train station to access the caravan park is called North Ryde. The station is only a 10 minute level walk away and a train trip to Sydney city takes less than 30 minutes. More information on public transport from this page. Remember that Lane Cove Caravan Park is not in the suburb of Lane Cove but Macquarie Park/North Ryde.
Many people know about this caravan park but it's not the easiest to find. So here is a page that will help. This link will show you a comprehensive page of directions on how to get to Lane Cove River Tourist Caravan Park.
Cabin Accommodation, Caravan Sites, Campervan Sites and Tent Sites
There are also family cabins that sleep up to five people and en-suite cabins for two people. Large caravan sites and roomy tent or camp sites. Motorhomes, camper vans and camper trailers are very well catered for as well. And below are pages with the most up to date and comprehensive information available on this caravan park and camping area.
For those people looking for a more luxury style stay there is also Tandara, an excellent example of true glamping (luxury camping or glamorous camping) in Sydney.
Camping in Sydney at Lane Cove Caravan Park
Camping at Lane Cove River Tourist Caravan Park is ideal if you're a tourist or backpacker wanting an inexpensive stay while visiting Sydney. Two well equipped camp kitchens, clean amenites and very easy access to Sydney tourist attractions and places to see. Tent and camping sites are quite large and the camping areas are generally away from caravan and campervan sites. If you want your to ensure your camping site is away from caravan sites ask to be placed on a U site. The U sites are unpowered but are situated in a well grassed area close to one of the camp kitchens. Free electricity is available at the camp kitchen if you need to charge your mobile phone or camera. Please don't leave items unattended. The camp kitchens have a couple of fridges for storing your cold items, a gas barbaque and also a 2 burner gas hotplate. Sink, instant hot water, kettle, toaster, tables and chairs complete the picture. All under cover.
What I like about the U sites for camping is that it is a long open area right on the edge of the Lane Cove National Park. This gives you an outlook down into the valley. It's also popular with the local wildlife! Don't worry though, the possums are inquistive because they are looking for food. They're not dangerous but if you do end up with one in your tent my advice is to not use your hands to move it on. A broom is a great way to remove unwanted guests form your tent (works on animals and people). You will only see possums at night but during the day some brush turkeys may be around. There are also plenty of trees for shade and it's only a short walk to toilets and showers. It is also closer to the walkway out of the Lane Cove Caravan Park for access to North Ryde train station (10 minute walk to the station and then 28 minutes by train to Sydney city).
